About Flix

Our Mission: Smart and Green Mobility for Everyone to Experience the World

Flix is a global mobility provider that has been changing the way millions of people travel in Europe since 2013 via its FlixBus brand. As a unique combination of tech-startup, e-commerce platform and transportation company, FlixBus quickly became Europe’s largest intercity bus network, helping hundreds of million people reach their destinations. In 2018, FlixTrain was launched, expanding the Flix network into the rail industry. Thanks to a user-friendly booking system and extensive daily route network, FlixMobility offers travelers the opportunity to experience the world no matter their budget. Our green buses and long-distance trains comply with the highest safety and environmental standards, so that we can offer a sustainable, convenient and comfortable alternative to private transportation.

Tradition Meets Technology: The FlixBus Road to Success

The success of FlixBus can be attributed to the digitalization of the traditional bus industry. With tech solutions such as the FlixBus App, e-ticketing, free Wi-Fi and power outlets, “Where’s My Bus” GPS live tracking and an automated Delay-Management System, we are continuing to revolutionize traditional bus travel. Through smart network planning and dynamic price management, we are able to provide our customers with the best offers possible. Our FlixBus network relies on close partnerships with small and medium-sized enterprises and often family-owned businesses – our regional bus partners – who are responsible for the green FlixBus fleet. For the operation of our long-distance FlixTrains, we cooperate with the most-successful private train operators in Europe. Through these partnerships, the innovation and start-up spirit of the FlixMobility brands meet with the long-standing experience of traditional industry.

From German Start-Up to the World's No. 1

Flix was founded as the start-up FlixBus by three young entrepreneurs in Munich, Germany, who had the vision of making sustainable bus travel both comfortable and affordable. FlixBus was officially launched in 2013 after the deregulation of the German bus market and quickly became the leading long-distance travel provider within the country.

In 2015, FlixBus began expanding internationally with long-distance networks in France, Italy, Denmark, the Netherlands and Croatia, as well as cross-border regular services to Norway, Spain and England. FlixBus USA launched in 2018, providing America with a new alternative in long-distance travel.

Today, passengers from over 36 countries can benefit from the world’s largest long-distance bus service as well as new intermodal travel options. An international team of more than 3,000 employees at Flix offices in Aarhus, Amsterdam, Berlin, Belgrade, Brussels, Bucharest, Budapest, Kiev, Los Angeles, Madrid, Milan, Moscow, Munich, New York, Paris, Prague, Warsaw and Zagreb – as well as thousands of our partners’ bus drivers and train operators from around Europe and the United States – stand behind the Flix mission.
