Bus travel across Europe is about to become even more enjoyable through the launch of FLIXtainment, free onboard entertainment on FlixBus journeys. Beginning February 28, FlixBus will begin the European rollout of the onboard entertainment system with content including Amazon Prime Original TV shows, Universal films provided by MPLC, Audible audiobooks, e-books from Rakuten Kobo, magazines from sharemagazines and mini games. All FLIXtainment content will be available for free and accessible on passengers’ personal devices by connecting to the onboard FlixBus Wi-Fi.

“We are continuously striving to make our passengers’ entire journey more enjoyable, and with the launch of our FLIXtainment Onboard Entertainment System, travelers will have top-of-the-line entertainment from the moment they enter the bus,” said Daniel Krauss, founder and CIO of FlixMobility. “By combining our FlixBus technology with Amazon Prime Video and Audible, we continue to improve the long-distance bus experience.”

“Travelling is one of the most obvious occasions to enjoy great stories. Now, FlixBus passengers in Europe will have easy access to a unique selection of Audible Originals and audiobooks in German, English, Italian, French and other languages. Many passengers will experience listening to great audio stories for the first time and appreciate how they can enrich their travel, commute and leisure time. Inspiring and entertaining stories, performed by the best actors and narrators – experience it now with Audible in FlixBuses,” said Oliver Daniel, Country Manager Audible Germany.

In addition to winning entertainment, FLIXtainment will provide improved Wi-Fi connections and a live map with current bus position. Passengers simply access the FLIXtainment Onboard Entertainment system by connecting to the onboard FlixBus Wi-Fi and visiting media.flixbus.com on their personal device and follow the prompts to 25 Hollywood movies from Universal, more than 100 audiobooks, 7 TV series, 75 eBooks, 30 international magazines and 20 mini games.

The FLIXtainment rollout begins in Sweden, Demark and France, with additional countries across Europe launching in the coming months. FlixBus will have the majority of the green European fleet equipped with Onboard Entertainment by the end of 2019.

Thanks to a unique business model in which FlixMobility handles the technology development, network planning, yield management, operations control and marketing while SME partners manage the day-to-day operations of the bus and train fleets, FlixBus continues to focus on innovating the traditional transportation landscape. In 2018 alone, FlixMobility launched integrations with Apple Pay, Google Pay and Google Assistant, brought free onboard virtual reality to buses in and out of Las Vegas and rolled out in-house tech creations such as seat reservations and the “Where’s My Bus?” live tracking feature.
