Around 40% more offer - FlixTrain announces largest network ever

Summary

+++ Largest expansion in the company's history: 40% more capacity than in 2023
+++ Largest FlixTrain network ever: expansion of the cooperation with the Deutschlandtarifverbund (DTV) to a total of over 150 bookable stops throughout Germany
+++ Frequency increase on existing routes and resumption of the Berlin - Mainz line (FLX11)
+++ Flix CEO André Schwämmlein: “With FlixTrain, we want to change the mobility landscape in Germany long term”

Today, FlixTrain announced its biggest expansion to date. With immediate effect, the long-distance train provider is increasing its services - planning to reach around 40% more capacity than in 2023 by summer. The company is also increasing frequencies: on the Berlin - Cologne route, green FlixTrain trains will now run up to six times a day (previously: four times), and on the Berlin - Frankfurt route even up to eight times (previously: six times).

After a break due to construction work, a popular connection from the capital to Rhineland-Palatinate is also returning with the FLX11 line, bringing back the stops Mainz and Wolfsburg. Also, the overall network continues to grow: in addition to 50 FlixTrain stops, more than 100 additional stops can be booked via flixtrain.de and the FlixBus app thanks to the successful cooperation with the Deutschlandtarifverbund (DTV). This means the entire offer now includes more than 150 stops throughout Germany - the largest FlixTrain network ever.

“We want to change the mobility landscape in Germany long term with FlixTrain,” says Flix CEO and co-founder André Schwämmlein. “We see enormous demand for an alternative rail service and are responding to the great success we’ve achieved with FlixTrain by expanding our service.”

Seat guarantee and journey times at ICE level

FlixTrain continues to be the only provider in Germany to offer all passengers a seat included with the ticket at no extra charge. In addition, travel times are at ICE level: from Berlin to Stuttgart it takes around six hours, from Berlin to Hamburg around two hours, and from Hamburg to Cologne around four hours. “We have succeeded in gradually reducing our journey times in recent years. Our long-distance travel times are now on a par with all our competitors,” Schwämmlein continues.
